Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.
It is his initial championship since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since spring of the previous year.
Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to win a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.
His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serve.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The pair traded service breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour championship, took control to force a third set.
Moutet rescued four early opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he earned the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
